SERLIO, Sebastiano (1475-1554). Il terzo libro... nel qual si figurano, e descrivono le antiquita di Roma, e le altre che sono in Italia, e fuori d'Italia. Venice: Francesco Marcolini 1540. 2° (341 x 240 mm). Title set within a cartouche held by putti above a large woodcut of antique ruins, 120 woodcut illustrations (32 full-page, 4 double page), initials and colophon leaf. (A few pale stains, small wormhole touching letters or woodcuts on a few leaves, some marginal dampstaining, a few marginal tears repaired, one with marginal loss, woodcut on pg. CXLIX trimmed close just touching.) 19th-century vellum (rebacked in vellum). Provenance : Early ownership inscription in ink on title-page partially effaced; inscription on title-page dated 3 August 1630, M.B. cipher on verso of title. FIRST EDITION .
