Norman Parkinson (1913-1990) Celia Hammond Fashion and Nun A vintage gelatin silver print and a strip of a contact sheet, 1963, 'unfinished' written in pencil in the margin of the print (likely in the hand of the artist), each annotated in pencil verso in an unknown hand, each on gloss photographic paper, each with margins, various sizes, the larger sheet 380 x 305mm (15 x 12in) (unframed) (2) A top model of her time, Celia Hammond was one of Norman Parkinson's favourites to work with. Here she is wearing Mary Quant fashions. With his inventive eye for outdoor fashion shoots, Parkinson manages to effortlessly and amusingly capture glamour in London for Queen Magazine. Provenance: From the Angela Williams Archive, United Kingdom. Gifted directly from the artist to Williams, who was an assistant to Norman Parkinson during the time his studio was based in Twickenham, London.
