Norman Parkinson (1913-1990) Young Stella McCartney Jumping Two gelatin silver prints, 1975, one with the artist's 'Photo Norman Parkinson' ink stamp, each annotated in pencil verso in an unknown hand, each on gloss photographic paper, each mounted onto the card support, to the sheet edge 305 x 208mm (12 x 8 1/8in) (unframed) (2) At the time only known as Paul McCartney's daughter, Stella McCartney was photographed in Tobago as a toddler by Norman Parkinson She would grow up to become the leading British fashion designer that we know today. These two shots were printed either side of a third shot used in the 'Sisters Under the Skin' book, with 'Mama's Little Girl' noted with it. The third photo (not part of this lot) was gifted to the National Portrait Gallery in 1981 by Parkinson himself, at the time of the NPG 'Norman Parkinson: 50 Years of Portraits and Fashion' Exhibition in London. Provenance: From the Angela Williams Archive, United Kingdom. Gifted directly from the artist to Williams, who was an assistant to Norman Parkinson during the time his studio was based in Twickenham, London.
