Original black boards, printed in red and blue. Provenance : Herwin Schaefer (small blind stamp on front endpaper). FIRST EDITION. A REMARKABLY FINE COPY OF THIS CELEBRATED WORK ILLUSTRATING THE FAMOUS SCHOOL'S INNOVATIONS TO DATE. Moholy-Nagy began running the photography course in 1923 and the Bauhaus quickly rose to the forefront of experimentation in European modernist photography. With lay-out by Lazlo Moholy-Nagy, cover design by Herbert Bayer and contributions by Walter Gropius Paul Klee Wassily Kandinsky, Lyonel Feininger Gertrud Grunow, Lazlo Moholy-Nagy, Oskar Schlemmer Johannes Itten Georg Muche Lothar Schreyer Gerhard Marcks and others. The 300 copies in English and 300 copies in Russian announced in the colophon were never published.
