Egypt and Sudan Medals 1882-1891 from the Collection of Jack Webb Family group Four: Quartermaster Sergeant H. Williams Gloucestershire Regiment, one of two men of his regiment to serve in the Nile Expedition Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, 1 clasp, The Nile 1884-85 (2445 Sergt. N. Williams, 1/Glouc. R.) note incorrect initial; Army L.S. & G.C., E.VII.R. (3809 Q.M. Sgt. H. Williams Gloucester Regt.); Meritorious Service Medal, G.V.R. (Q.M. Sjt. H. Williams Glouc. R.); Khedive’s Star 1884-6, together with original commission as Quartermaster in the Manchester Regiment, dated 4 November 1916 Three: Gunner H. H. Williams Royal Garrison Artillery 1914-15 Star (42567 Gnr., R.G.A.); British War and Victory Medals (42567 Gnr., R.A.) together with related Safe Driving Medal and a small quantity of official documents, Egypt medal pitted, good fine, otherwise good very fine or better (8) £450-500 Footnote Only 2 men, Sergeants T. Carrol and H. Williams of the Gloucestershire Regiment served on the Nile Expedition with the Egyptian Army. Henry Williams enlisted in the Gloucestershire Regiment on 8 February 1881, and was discharged on 30 September 1908. He was appointed Quartermaster in the Manchester Regiment on 4 November 1916, but did not serve overseas and resigned his commission on account of disability on 30 June 1917. The Lot is also sold with his grand-daughter’s certificate of service for 1939-45.
