Offered for sale is a 3.8L 1966 Jaguar Mk 2 manual that has been with the current owner for the last 7 years. Coming with a partial history file, this lot's condition scores 79 / 135.
Classic Car Auctions says: The Jaguar Mark 2 is a medium-sized saloon car built from late 1959 to 1967 by Jaguar in Coventry, England. Adhering to Sir William Lyons' maxim of "grace, pace and space", the Mark 2 was a fast and capable saloon. The 3.8 XK engine is similar to the unit used in the 3.8 E-Type, having the same block, crank, connecting rods and pistons but different inlet manifold and carburation. The 3.4 Litre and 3.8 Litre cars were fitted with twin SU HD6 carburettors. The 3.8 Litre was supplied fitted with a limited-slip differential. Compared to the Mark 1, appearance of the car was transformed by an increase of 18% in cabin glass area greatly improving vision. The car was re-engineered above the waistline, slender front pillars allowed a wider windscreen and the rear window almost wrapped around to the enlarged side windows now with the familiar Jaguar D-shape above the back door and fully chromed frames for all the side windows. The radiator grille was amended and larger side, tail and fog lamps repositioned. Inside a new heating system was fitted and ducted to the rear compartment. There was also an improved instrument layout that became standard for all Jaguar cars until 1973. Offered here is very genuine and well-maintained 1966 Mk 2 3.8. It is believed to be a matching numbers car. In arguably the best Jaguar paint colour of Opalescent Blue with matching blue leather interior, this car presents very well. Having been owned by a discerning Jaguar enthusiast, and now being sold by his family, the car is very sound mechanically and is said to drive superbly. Coming with some paperwork / invoices, it has been maintained and stored professionally. It is fitted with the desirable options of over-drive and power-steering, with a very nice period Moto-Lita steering wheel. Showing a believed genuine 38,037 miles from new, this car's interior is all present and correct with only light patina. The original tool kit is also present.
