1966 Jaguar Mk. II Saloon (2.4 litre) Lot Number 154 Registration GWL 703F Chassis Number 121691 Engine Number BJ8144-8 Odometer reading 26,445 miles Estimate £14,000 - £18,000 Result Sold - £13,440 Print details Send this to a friend The Jaguar Mk. II is a medium sized saloon car built between 1959 and 1967 in Coventry as successors to the Jaguar 2.4 litre and 3.4 litre models. These, retrospectively, became known as the Jaguar Mk. I following the release of the Mk. II in 1959. Adhering to Sir William Lyons' maxim of "grace, pace and space", the Jaguar Mk. II was a beautiful, fast and capable saloon. It also gained a reputation as a capable car among criminals and law enforcement alike; the 3.8 litre model being particularly fast with its 220bhp engine giving a standing start of 0-60mph in 8.5 seconds and to a top speed of 125mph. With enough room for five adults, they were also employed by the Police to patrol British motorways. This wonderfully presented Mk. II was first registered on the 1st August, 1966 and is the desirable manual example. Originally restored 'nut & bolt' six years ago with bills exceeding £22,000, the current vendor, who purchased from a family friend at the start of the year, recommissioned the car after lack of use and refreshed the paintwork. As the photographs suggest, it has an 'as new' feel inside with the woodwork and trim looking splendid. Finished in deep navy blue with blue trim and new chrome wheels, the vendor has spent time and money through the start of 2017 after purchasing but unfortunately personal circumstances dictated that he can no longer keep the car and thus he now hopes to present this manual Mk. II as best he can for a new owner. A recently obtained MoT test certificate for the confidence of any new owner has been obtained and is included within the history file which also contains receipts and bills from the previous work undertaken and a recently obtained valuation for insurance purposes at over £30,000. In one of the very best colour combinations and very attractively priced, viewing is certainly recommended.
