Title: Hand-colored photograph of Mount Ranier Author: Curtis, Asahel Place: Publisher: Asahel Curtis Date: 1911 Description: Vintage hand-colored photograph, approximately 9½x11½". In a period frame with modern UV filtering glass. Signed in the negative at lower right. Asahel Curtis was among the most prominent Seattle photographers of the early twentieth century, as well as a noted outdoors-man and regional booster. In 1911, Asahel established his own studio in Seattle and employed a team of developers and colorists, including his sister Eva. He was hired by a number of local companies, organizations, and wealthy individuals to take portraits and promotional photos. Asahel became more widely known for his images of the Washington landscape that were published nationwide. He was the brother of photographer Edward S. Curtis. Lot Amendments Condition: A few small chips to frame; photo fine. Item number: 203528
