Document is addressed to "Capt. Parsons" and is dated September 16, 1862. Reads in part "Joe Hamley Two Horses Secesh Black & Sorrel" and then indicates another two horses were turned over by Wm Mitchum. Six other Horses taken from Secesh but names not given and another horse belongs to a Union man Capt. Long. Document is not signed. "Joe Hamley" is likely Private Joseph Hamley, Co. F, PA 12th Cavalry. "Wm. Mitchum" is possibly Private William J. Mitchum, Co. K, KY 21st Infantry. Also included is a small pamphlet, 3 x 4.5 in., "The Horse Doctor, or Practical Receipts for Sick Horses." New York: 1860. 32 pp. Condition: Document was not removed from frame for inspection. it appears to be in good condition. Upper right corner of frame is damaged and separates from rest of frame. Pamphlet is in good condition.
