CONSTITUTIONS FOR THE FRANCISCAN ORDER OF THE "POOR CLARES". Illuminated manuscript on vellum [Netherlands] 1619, 255 x 180mm, 17 leaves (of 18, lacking final blank, but with first blank), in quires of 6, 26 lines written in red and black ink by one scribe in gothic and roman letters, THREE LARGE ILLUMINATED INITIALS, blue on burnished gold ground, infilled with white and yellow on red scrolling branches, on gold on red ground. Contemporary calf tooled in blind, with armorial gilt in centre of covers (very worn). The manuscript contains (1) the Constitution (2) the service of induction for novices, with one page of music (3) instructions for celebrating mass.
