The Thames Tunnel, published by T.C. Brandon], n.p., circa 1845, double-decker peepshow, with four hand-coloured engraved divisions, three showing boats on the River Thames (with imprint of J.T. Wood, 33 Holywell Street, Strand) and pedestrians in the Tunnel below, and back-scene showing Victoria and Albert on a ceremonial barge at Wapping and pedestrians in the Tunnel below, latter with creased and slightly frayed folding flap to upper edge, adhesive tape repair to fold of flap on verso and to lower bellow attachment to back board on one side, front board with the engraving of Victoria and Albert repeated, and with three circular peepholes, overall somewhat dusty and toned, 16 x 17cm (6.25 x 6.75ins), extending 62cm (24.5ins) See Gestetner Collection 240 for a peepshow featuring Brandon's engraving of the royal visit on 26th July 1843. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert are shown about to disembark from a ceremonial barge at Wapping, in front of crowds on the quay. The entrance building for the Thames Tunnel and the Irving and Brown Coal Wharf are seen in the background. (1)
