ANGUS, William, engraver (1752-1821). The Seats of the Nobility and Gentry in Great Britain and Wales in a Collection of Select Views . [London:] W. Angus, 1787 [but 1815]. Oblong 4 o (205 x 279 mm). Engraved title and 63 plates after Sandby, Dayes, Repton, Nattes and others (some occasional minor spotting and dampstaining). (Occasional light offsetting of plates onto text.) Contemporary green half roan, decorated paper boards, spine gilt, edges gilt (some light wear along edges). A fine guide book to British country homes and manors. Angus includes charming views of Basildon House in Berkshire, Grove House in Middlesex, Lumley House in Durham, and Merton-Place in Surrey. Brunet I, 296; Lowndes I, 47.
