Beschreibung:

The first Porsche 911 was introduced in 1963 as the replacement for the much loved Porsche 356. It has a distinctive design; rear-engined and with independent rear suspension, an evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356. The engine was also air-cooled until the introduction of the Type 996 in 1998. Since its introduction in 1963, it has undergone continual development, although the basic concept has remained little changed. In 1973, the Carrera name was re-introduced from the 356 Carrera which had itself been named after Porsche's class victories in the Carrera Panamericana races in Mexico in the 1950's. The RS was built so that Porsche could enter racing formulae which demanded that a certain minimum number of production cars were made. The most notable advances in 1984 were the introduction of the 3.2-litre engine. Although it remained an air-cooled 'flat six', the '3.2' was 80% new and incorporated an effective cam chain tensioner and associated lubrication system that at last addressed a perennial 911 shortcoming. With 231bhp on tap, the new 'boxer' motor endowed the Carrera with a level of performance approaching that of the original 911 Turbo of 1974; the bald statistics being a 0-60mph time of 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 152mph. This beautifully presented, Porsche 911 Carrera Targa Sport was supplied new in the United Kingdom in August 1988. Painted in Guards Red with black seats piped in red, the speedometer is reading just under 35,000 miles which the vendor believes to be correct and is substantiated by service history and old MoT's which go back to the mid 1990's. The car is fitted with the more desirable G50, five speed gearbox which was overhauled in 2004. It is also supplied with the original Blaupunkt radio cassette player, complete tool kit, V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate valid until May 2013, a file containing invoices and old MoT test certificates going back to 1996, and a Porsche wallet containing the service book all of which testify that this has been a much loved sports car throughout its life. With the lift out Targa top offering open air motoring and with Porsche reputation for reliability this is a rare opportunity to buy a low mileage practical classic car.
