Upon its launch in October 1967 the MGC was available in roadster form at £1,102 and in GT form at £1,249 and was considered very reasonably priced for one of the fastest production MG's produced at that time. Powered by an in-line, six-cylinder, pushrod, OHV engine of 2912cc capacity, the MGC was capable of developing 150bhp. The MGC should have been one of the best-selling sports cars of all time, and may be described as one of the most controversial sports cars ever produced out of the MG works at Abingdon. Sadly, the MGC was to be very short lived, for in 1969 it was dropped from the MG range. We are pleased to offer this rather delightful MGC GT that was first registered on 6th March 1968. Today, this MGC presents very well, its British Racing Green coachwork is in fine condition and displays excellent panel gaps. The contrasting black interior trim, is also in very good order, both coachwork (with its original alloy bonnet) and trim being complemented by a set of Minilite style alloy wheels with excellent tyres. This MG further benefits from a stainless steel exhaust system and a factory overdrive gearbox. The MG is UK registered, has an MoT test certificate, valid until June 2018 and a large history file containing many invoices for parts and works, old MoT test certificates and an original MGC Owner’s Handbook. With good examples of these three-litre straight six motor cars from Abingdon becoming sought after, we believe that this MGC offers an excellent opportunity in a market where it has become difficult to find good motor cars at sensible prices.
