Beschreibung:

The 2912cc straight-6 version of the MGB, the MGC GT, was sold from 1967 through to August 1969 and was intended as the replacement for the Austin-Healey 3000 but in that form, never got beyond the design proposal stage. The MGC engines produced 145bhp at 5250rpm and the car was capable of 120mph and a 0-60mph time of 10.0 seconds. Externally, the only differences were a distinctive bonnet bulge to accommodate the relocated radiator and a teardrop for carburettor clearance; it also had different brakes from the MGB and 15 inch wheels. The heavy engine and new suspension changed the vehicle's handling and it received a very mixed response in the automotive press although this was overcome by better tyres and subtle modification of suspension settings. In 1967 HRH Prince Charles took delivery of an MGC GT (SGY 766F), which he passed down to Prince William 30 years later so future owners can be assured of being in good company! This beautiful example was one of a pair owned from new by a husband and wife. Recently undergoing a full restoration including a bare metal re-spray and re-trim in black leather with subtle red piping, the body and chrome work is exemplary and the owner describes the entire car as one of the best examples he has seen, top to toe. Unfortunately there is little history with the car due to the original owners having passed away without leaving any documents but any inspection will reveal this example for the true gem it is. The car will have a full MoT test certificate by the time of the sale along with road fund license making it ready to be enjoyed on the open road.
