FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH, said on the title to be translated from the German but, in fact, translated from the French of Baronesse Montolieu by the Godwins, and comprising just the first volume of the original work. There were two issues of the first edition, the other in two volumes being apparently marketed first. Alderson & Oyens 16; Gumuchian 4907; Osborne I, p. 318.
