Crosby Newell Bonsall (1921-1995) was a popular children’s book writer and illustrator who made many friends in the American juvenile book field. George Bonsall (1916-1997) collaborated with his wife on several children’s books in the 1950s. She often exchanged books with other writers and illustrators, especially those affiliated with her publisher Harper & Row and winners of Newbery and Caldecott Awards.
