Housed in a custom box with oval cut-out revealing cover illustration. Early reprint, inscribed on the front free endpaper "For a Brownie from Beatrix Potter 1914” (the date has been altered by Potter in ink). The recipient according to a note loosely inserted was Laura Meyer. Two old photos, one of three girls and one of a young woman in girl guide uniform, may depict the recipient. The Girl Guide Association was formed in 1910 and the Brownies division, for younger girls, originally called Rosebuds, was added in 1914.
