He trained at the College of Arts and Crafts in Madras, where he studied under the celebrated painter K. C. S. Paniker. Viswanadhan subsequently became a founding member of the famous artists’ village Cholamandal. From the late 1960s, he settled in Paris, establishing a studio there. Viswanadhan’s profoundly geometric works demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of line, form and negative space.
