(Frontispiece frayed at outer margin, with closed tear along lower border of portrait, and soiling at foot, crease marks and closed tears affecting title, a number of small worm traces in blank areas of title, A4v slightly soiled at upper margin.) 19th-century calf by Francis Bedford triple gilt fillets, gilt-panelled spine with green morocco lettering-pieces, gilt turn-ins and board edges, gilt paper edges. Provenance : Lord Aldenham (armorial bookplate and pencil inscription); Henry H. Gibbs St. Dunstans 1861 (ink inscription); "Bought of Lilly" (pencil inscription, presumably referring to the bookseller Joseph Lilly). Second edition, first issue. 'The Occasion of the Old Man's being brought out of Shropshire to London,' A 4-B 2, is in prose, while 'The Life of Thomas Parr', B 3-D 4, is in verse, followed by the postcript in prose. The postscript was not included in the first edition. The second issue of this edition included an announcement of Par's death on 15 November, 1635, on the title page.
