Beschreibung:

A gentleman's wristwatch of steel. Model Submariner, ref. 6204. Mechanical movement with automatic winding, cal. A260. Black dial with white hour markers and steel hands. Rolex bracelet of steel with folding clasp. Circumference 17.5 cm. Watch diameter 37 mm. 1954. The Rolex Submariner dates back to 1953–1954, the first reference being 6204. While the Submariner may be the most iconic Rolex ever made, the model was directly inspired by the Rolex Turn-O-Graph reference 6202. At its initial release, scuba diving was still a relatively new activity, the 6204 was the first wristwatch considered to be guaranteed a water-resistance of up to 100 meters during a time where the notion of commercially available wristwatches being able to function at such depths was non-existent. The present example features a ''Stretch-Rivet'' Oyster bracelet and beautifully patinated casing fitted with an early service dial. Middle case no. 6204. Case back no. 6204. Movement no. 09979. Serial no. 988XXX. End link no. 65. Folding clasp no. 54.
The watch was working at the time of its consignment and inspection, but it has not been tested over a longer period of time. As the watch is in a used condition, no warranty is provided for its functionality. If a recent service history does not appear in the description of the watch, we recommend the buyer get the watch serviced. Payment is possible only by credit card in the salesroom or by bank transfer. All wristwatches up for auction were in working condition at the time of their consignment and inspection, but they have not been tested over a longer period of time. Since the wristwatches are in a used condition, no warranty is provided for their functionality or of the originality of any replaced parts in the wristwatches, such as the dial, hands, bezel, mechanical parts etc. If a recent service history does not appear in the description of the individual wristwatch, we recommend the buyer have the watch serviced.
