Engraved title with vignette, oval portrait frontispiece of Phillip after F.Wheatly, 8pp. list of subscribers, advert laef at end, 54 plates, maps and charts, some folding (reapired tear to **2, some spotting). Contemporary calf-backed marbled boards, vellum corners (joints slightly split). Provenance : The Earl St.Germans (armorial bookplate). FIRST EDITION. 'The first authentic and official account of the expedition to New South Wales and of the foundation of the settlement': Ferguson 47; Hill p.233; Wantrup 5.
