Paz is regarded one of most influential writers of the 20th century and one of the greatest Hispanic poets. Paz regarded Gerzso as one of Mexico's best artists and the two worked in collaboration on this project. The poems are printed Spanish on the verso and English on the recto. The etchings are printed on separate leaves and inserted into the bi-folio of poems. The book is designed by Frank Hine.
