Beschreibung:

S.E. Asia: 1942-45. A rectangular white rayon cloth, printed on one side with the British Union Jack flag at upper left, with texts below in English and other languages, "Dear Friend, I am an Allied fighter. I did not come here to do any harm to you who are my friends. I only want to do harm to the Japanese and chase them away from this country as quickly as possible. if you will assist me, my government will sufficiently reward you when the Japanese are driven away," with translations of that text in French, Jawi, Thai, W. Shan, Bengali, Malay, Sumatra, Tamil, Chinese, Annamite, Haka, Kachin, Laizo, Karen and Burmese. Slightly crumpled, slight wear at lower left corner. 480 x 290 mm. (19 x 11 inches.) A rare RAF CBI blood chit issued to a pilot flying in S.E. Asia for use in the event of being shot or forced down in unfamiliar territory and requiring local aid to return to base. Note the carefully worded but somewhat long explanation. The wide variety of languages on display in this chit reflect the many cultures present in the South East Asia. The RAF was severely restricted in planes and pilots in the CBI theater;, and American flyers who had to come to the aid of China forming the Flying tigers, went on to assist the British pilots flying out of Northern India.
