Gill (ink inscription to half-title); The Michael Gilkes Collection. Note: one chapter is by W.S. Bruce, naturalist of the Barque 'Balaena', a pioneering whaling expedition considered to mark the start of the 'Heroic Age' of Antarctic exploration on which Murdoch was expedition artist.
