Oval, 76mm (3in) highFootnotesEleanor Eden, Countess of Buckinghamshire (1777-1851) was the eldest child of William Eden 1st Baron Auckland. It was rumoured that, as a young woman, she was to be engaged to William Pitt the Younger, however letters between Pitt and her father in 1797 saw Pitt quash any rumours. Two years later, she married Robert Hobart, 4th Earl of Buckinghamshire.
Anne Mee (1765-1851) was a well-respected miniaturist who began her tuition under George Romney from the age of twelve. She exhibited occasionally at the Royal Academy and received royal and aristocratic patronage.
