(Central Pacific Railroad) Map of the Central Pacific Railroad and its Connections Place Published: San Francisco Publisher: Central Pacific Railroad Date Published: May 1875 Description: Single sheet, folding, with timetable, schedules and fares on one side, route map on the other surrounded by 24 wood-engraved scenes. Sheet size 34.7x90 cm (13¾x35½"). Map of the Central Pacific Railroad and its connections, with schedules and fares taking effect April 26, 1875. The map extends from the Indiana border to the Pacific terminus of San Francisco, showing the railroad lines and connections through the west. Engraved scenes include Bloomer Cut, Gold Run Hydraulic Mining, Cape Horn, Donner Lake, Snow Sheds, Tunnels, Truckee River, State Line, First Construction Train Passing Palisades, etc. The Central Pacific Railroad was a rail company chartered by U.S. Congress in 1862 to build a railroad eastwards from Sacramento, California, to complete the western part of the "First Transcontinental Railroad" in North America.
