Lot of 2. Wooden painted daguerreian wall frame with gilt detail, 11.75 x 9.75 in., housing six sixth plate portraits including two daguerreotypes, three ambrotypes, and one tintype. Highlights include an ambrotype portrait of a lovely lady wearing a bonnet, brooch, and lace gloves; and an ambrotype portrait of a chubby young girl posed in front of a lace table or drop cloth and wearing a slightly pouting expression. Velvet upholstered wooden daguerreian wall frame, approx. 10 x 12 in., housing four ninth plate ambrotype portraits of men, including two with visible highlighted watch chains. Provenance:Marvin Lieber Collection of Early Photographica Condition: Images with varying condition issues including (but not limited to) scratches, spotting, and some loss to emulsion. Wooden frame with areas of paint loss and chipping, including some repair. Velvet frame with some velvet loss and scratches/abrasions. Adhesive residue visible on wood on verso where velvet ends.
