Lot of 4 cases containing a total of 5 images, including two pressed-paper cases each containing a qurter plate daguerreotype of a couple; a sixth plate geometric/scroll Union case containing a sixth plate daguerreotype of a couple under a mat stamped Williamson / Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a sixth plate geometric/scroll Union case containing two sixth plate ambrotypes, both under patriotic mats. Charles A. Williamson learned the daguerreian process in Springfield, MA, and listed his business there in 1851. He operated a gallery in Brooklyn from 1853 until his death in 1874. He reportedly worked for M.A. Root at one time, and is credited with introducing the "Cameotype." Condition: Solar ring around the Williamson image. Case containing ambrotypes missing a corner of the back cover.
