Brennan to "Dear Alfred" on Brennan's Supreme Court stationery. A letter of praise for his recent read "On Mencken" and comments for Knopf's footnote on Judge Hugo Black's opinion. 3) [Tuscon, AZ:] 15 October 1980. 1 1/4 pages. Retained carbon copy of a letter to Justice William J. Brennan, unsigned, a warm note reminiscing on the "twenties" and explaining his footnote on Judge Hugo Black. Condition : left margin moderately creased with minor splits (2 & 3, stapled)
