1) Quebec: 6 July 1929. 2 pages. Autograph letter initialed "W. S. C." to "Dan B…" on Chateau Frontenac stationery. 2) N.p.: 7 October 1926. 1 page letter signed "Willa Cather" to Alfred on her personal stationery. 3) N.p.: 14 May 1931. 2 page letter signed "Willa Cather" to Alfred on her personal stationery. 4) Boston: 1 July 1933. Typed letter signed to Cather from a Houghton Mifflin officer. a strongly worded letter in which houghton mifflin rejects a subscription set of cather's works and has harsh words towards knopf and scribner's. "Frankly, there have been many things about the entire episode the haven't liked and still don't like. We don't like Knopf's …" 5) N.p.: 27 July 1934. Autograph note, unsigned, but in Willa Cather's hand to "My Dear Alfred' on her personal stationery. A typical note to her publisher, ' i f you will reject the pages of 'A Lost Lady' as well for me, I'll write you another romantic story, and a better one…!' 6) New York: 7 July 1935. Typed memo on Knopf stationery from Blanche Knopf (worn with loss) offering tips on where to stay, eat, see in Paris. 7) N.p.: 9 August 1937. 3 1/2 page autograph letter initialed "W.S.C." on her stationery addressed to Alfred A. Knopf, with original mailing envelope. 8) [New York:] 7 January 1947. Retained carbon copy of a typed letter, unsigned, but from Alfred A. Knopf to 'Dear Miss Cather'. Cather seeks advice abount an impending disagreement with her publishers over cinema rights to her books, he responds she at their mercy. 9) Boston: 9 January 1947. Facsimile copy of a typed letter from Ferris Greenslet to 'My dear Willa' on Houghton Mifflin stationery. A letter passing on information about the motion to make Cather's book 'The Song of the Lark' into a film. 10) N.p.: late January or February, 1947. Facsimile copy of a letter unsigned, to 'My dear Mr. Greenslet'. Cather is adamant in her refusal of her book being made into film. 11) Boston: 20 March 1947. Retained carbon copy of a typed letter from Ferris Greenslet to 'My dear Willa' on Houghton Mifflin stationery. A reluctant agreement by Greenslet to not press any further about selling for cinema rights to 'A Song of the Lark'. 12) New Hamphire: 18 June 1947. An autograph letter signed by Cather's editor friend Edith Lewis to 'Mr. Knopf' on The Shattuck Inn Annex stationery. Lewis asks Knopf about some offers to bring Cather's work to the movies. [With:]A note in Cather's hand with some upcoming travel dates. [With:] Volume 74 of The Papers of the Bibliographical Society of America, from 1980; 'Willa Cather's Corrections in the Text of Death Comes for the Archbishop , 1927 to 1945', by Joan St.C Crane. [With:] A series of correspondence between Miss Louise Stegner and Alfred A. Knopf (10) all dated 1947 all relating to the Cather collection with one to Edith Lewis of the same date.
