Beschreibung:

Yowah, Queeensland, Australia Surely the largest and most unique specimen to emerge from this region in the last 100 years—is this gem-quality boulder opal displaying a rich tapestry of colors in predominantly green and blue together with some red, orange and even purple. Originally begun as a nodule, over time, mineral-bearing waters, rich with the silica and iron that form opal, seeped in over time to fill in the voids—forming a “pool of opal” inside the large concretion. When the concretion dried, voids and cracks formed inside the ironstone created the interesting formations one sees here. A very large band of opal up to 1 inch thick in some areas has been exposed when a portion of this nodule was weathered and fell away. The exposed opal has a natural polish without any enhancement or interference by man along a natural cleavage points giving it a vitreous surface luster. An impressive, museum-quality display specimen. Measuring 22 x 15 x 7 in
