Pauly is most probably the officer of public instruction who authored "Nouvelle méthode de géographie : établie d'après le plan d'études des écoles primaires supérieures et de l'enseignement secondaire" (Paris, G. Guérin, 1892). The front board of the presentation case is decorated with a fabulous chromolithograph signed "LS Paris", referring to the Parisian editor Léon Saussine who was active between and His publishing firm continued until the 1960s.
