FOUR LARGE QUR'AN FOLIOS IL-KHANID AND TIMURID IRAN, SULTANATE INDIA, 14TH-16TH CENTURY Comprising two folios from a 14th century Qur'an, possibly from Shiraz, each with 9ll. of large black muhaqqaq script, with two-colour gold, blue and black roundel verse makrers inscribed "aya" in kufic script, with red Persian interlinear translation in naskh script, one large sura heading for Qur'an LXXIX ( sura al-nazi'at ) in white thuluth script on gold ground within illuminated cartouche, with finely illuminated marginal medallions, catchwords; a folio from a Timurid Qur'an, each side with 9ll. of large muhaqqaq script, with gold and polychrome rosette verse markers, text within blue, black and gold rules, with gold illuminated marginal medallions on blue ground; and a large Sultanate folio, each side with 15ll. of black bihari script, with gold and polychrome rosette verse markers, the name of God picked out in red, sura heading in white thuluth script on gold ground within illuminated cartouche, text within red and blue rules, with marginal illuminated medallions, further text in the margin written in chevron pattern, mounted The largest 20 7/8 x 12¼in.
