A RARE EASTERN KUFIC QUR'AN SIGNED 'ABDALLAH BIN MAS'UD, DATED AH 498/1104-05 AD Arabic manuscript on paper, 209ff. plus three fly-leaves, each folio with 19ll. of elegant black Eastern kufic , diacritics in red ink, yellow, purple and blue roundel verse markers, marginal medallions and juz' markers with vegetal shapes and scrolling lattice designs, sura headings in red and yellow ink with medallions extending into the margin with yellow, purple and blue with scrolling lattice design, the four opening and closing bifolios with script in white clouds on gold ground, first bifolio with sura heading in large angular kufic on purple ground with scrolling vines, bottom of bifolio with band of round medallions with gold kufic inscription surrounded by blue interlocking circles on purple ground with scrolling vines, folios trimmed, remargined, in later stamped morocco Text panel 6 3/8 x 10¾in.
