.22 Rimfire caliber. 2.1875” flat-sided rounded barrel. SN: 16441 (mfg. ca.1876). Nickel finish, blued trigger and screws, blued hammer top with sides polished bright, smooth two-piece walnut grips. 2nd Type New Line 22 single action revolver with 7-shot long flute cylinder. Left side of barrel with oval acid etched panel that reads "COLT NEW 22". Top of barrel marked in two lines: "COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG CO/HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A". Lower left of frame below cylinder marked ".22 CAL". Patent date and partial serial number "6441" under barrel, concealed by cylinder arbor pin. Rear face of cylinder numbered "6441" as well, with right grip numbered to the gun in pencil on its interior. The Colt New Line 22 was only produced for a relatively short period of time between 1873 and 1877 with 55,344 being manufactured during that period. A lovely condition example with a fine etched panel and nearly all of its original nickel finish. Condition: Fine. Retains the majority of the original nickel finish with crisp markings throughout. Metal shows some minor flaked loss at the muzzle, the sharp edges of the frame. Most screws with some minor traces of blue, arbor pin with slightly more. Not mechanically functional, as the hand spring appears to have broken or been lost, but otherwise shows all indications of being fully repairable by a component gunsmith. Bore fair, showing moderate pitting and oxidation with strong rifling. Grips about fine, with much of their finish and showing some light handling marks and dings.
