The first and last leaves distressed with some losses, some spotting and edgewear throughout but internally quite clean for a document of this type. Eighteenth century cooking manuscripts are scarce and typically found in poor condition due to their heavy use in the kitchens of the day; the current manuscript is in mostly very good condition despite its lack of binding. The manuscript offers nearly 130 recipes (numbered from about 35-170) for various types of meats (turkey, pig), fish (mackerel, salmon), shellfish (lobster, oysters), pickling, making puddings, making jellies, marmalades, etc. Also includes winemaking instructions for several types of wine.
