The compendium of Churchill's speeches from the "Wilderness Years," urging Britain to rearm and meet the growing Nazi menace. "The idea that dictators can be appeased by kind words and minor concessions is doomed to disappointment... We must stand by the League [of Nations] Covenant, which alone justifies a general rearmament..." Hubert Renfro ("Red") Knickerbocker (1898-1949) was an American newspaper correspondent and author who covered the Battle of Britain and later the invasions of Sicily and Normandy. Woods A44(a).
