It is a perfect Christmas Day ..., and thoroughly delights me.' He goes on to tell of his youngest daughter who is getting better from an illness although 'I fear she will not be strong enough to bear removal here before Tuesday, but I hope we shall get her down before the old year is out', and concludes with 'seasonable wishes towards your house and yours.
