Beschreibung:

C.1983 DEBONAIRE MG MIDGET BASED TWO SEATER SPORTS CAR Registration No. Not UK Registered Chassis No. Not known Engine No. Not known Black and pewter with grey fabric interior Engine: GM, V8; with Edelbrock cylinder head; Gearbox: B&M Quicksilver 3 speed automatic; Suspension: front coil springs, rear semi elliptic leaf springs; Brakes: four wheel. Left hand drive. The traditional of building 'Specials' is in many respects as old as the industry of the motor car itself. Be it for racing or for pleasure, enthusiasts have taken designs, components and different styles of bodywork to create their 'own' motor car. In some cases a design is so successful that the 'special' itself creates a following, cars such as Excaliber, Marcos, DeSande, etc. being examples of the more popular known marques. This car does not bear any manufacturers plate, or indication of its constructor, except for its numberplate surround, which reads 'Debonaire'. Owing to the similarities between this example and many of those built by Clenet, it seems likely that it was constructed by a former employee of that company, which was common, as there are a number of known variations using Clenet basis. Purchased by the current owners from California, USA, the car was formerly registered there as 'DEB N R', until 1991. These origins also link the car to Clenet, as they were built in Santa Barbara, California. Its specification features components from a variety of manufacturers, with power coming from a GM V8 unit, this transferred through a B&M Quicksilver automatic gearbox and to the road via Cragar SS wheels. In the present ownership the car has not been used, and so we would advise that it be carefully checked over and tested prior to using on the road.
