Der Naturforscher, Mikroskopbauer und Jesuit Buonanni (auch Bonanni; 1638-1725) war Schüler Athanasius Kirchers und Inspektor des Museum Kircherianum in Rom. Sein Werk über Mikroskope und ihre Benutzung mit den plastischen Tafeln erschien erstmals 1691.
