Davies of London, 1803. 8vo (231 x 140 mm). 6 engraved plates by William Blake after Maria Flaxman. (Lacking the half-title, occasional light spotting.) Contemporary tan calf gilt, edges gilt. Provenance : Benjamin ? (ownership inscription dated 1806 on title-page partially effaced); Wilfred Merton (1888-1957), British collector and publisher (bookplate dated 1924); D.H.P. (monogram bookplate). First edition, large paper copy , produced at a time of great financial difficulty for Blake, who received ten guineas for each plate from his patron Hayley.
