Provenance : Monroe Allen (bookplate, pencil signature on first title); Minnesota Historical Society (bookplate, presented by J. Fletcher Williams). THE FIRST HEBREW BIBLE PRINTED IN AMERICA. A reprint of Van der Hooght's text, without vowel-points or accents. It is based on the 1661 critical edition edited by Johannes Leusden (1624-1699), a Calvinist theologian, and published by Joseph Athias (d. 1700), founder of a Hebrew-Dutch printing house.
