AN IMPERIAL CARVED AND INSCRIBED ALOESWOOD BOULDER QIANLONG CYCLICAL XINYOU YEAR CORRESPONDING TO 1741, AND OF THE PERIOD The aromatic aloeswood boulder is delicately carved to depict a mountainous landscape with elderly gentlemen engaging in various leisurely activities such as playing the qin , reclining on a cushion, conversing and accompanied by attendants, underneath rocky overhanging cliffs. The back cliff surface is inscribed in the middle with an imperial four-line poem and three seals, the bottom left further inscribed with the carver's name, Yang Weizhan , and a cyclical Xinyou year corresponding to 1741. 5 1/8 in. (13 cm.) high
