ACKERMANN -- The History of the Colleges of Winchester, Eton, and Westminster; with the Charter-House, the Schools of St.Paul's, Merchant Taylors, Harrow, and Rugby, and the Free-School of Christ's Hospital . London: L. Harrison for R. Ackermann, 1816 [watermarked 1812-1816]. 4° (340 x 272mm). 48 hand-coloured plates, mostly aquatints, by Havell, Stadler, Black and others after Westall, Mackenzie, Pugin and others; extra-illustrated with the first state of plate 26. (Some light offsetting from the plates onto the text.) Contemporary diced russia, the sides with a gilt scrolling border (rebacked to style, corners repaired, small repair on the lower side, extremities rubbed). Provenance : Richard Cyril Lockett (coin collector, 1873-1950; bookplate).
