Ackermann, 1816 [watermarked 1812-1816]. 4° (338 x 274mm). 2pp. subscribers' list. 48 hand-coloured plates (44 aquatint views by Havell, Stadler, Bluck and others after Westall, Mackenzie, Pugin and others, 4 stipple and line engraved costume plates), extra-illustrated with six cut-down and mounted portrait mezzotints of the founders of six of the schools. 20th-century red straight-grained morocco gilt, covers panelled and with a large lozenge shape, spine in six compartments with raised bands, lettered in two the others with elaborate repeat pattern of styllised foliage, gilt turn-ins, top edge gilt.
