A RARE BEIJING ENAMEL FAMILLE ROSE YELLOW-GROUND BALUSTER JAR AND DOMED COVER BLUE ENAMEL QIANLONG FOUR-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN DOUBLE CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-95) Supported on a spreading circular base and with a short, slightly tapering cylindrical neck, finely and delicately enamelled with peonies and passion flowers borne on curled leafy stems, below a simulated brocade sash enriched with butterfly medallions and peach sprays reserved on a diaperwork ground, edged in blue and black, and tied in a large bow at the shoulders, over four shaped oval floral and pale blue-ground panels, between a lappet band of descending ruyi around the neck and ascending ruyi around the base, the cover enamelled with additional flowers below bands of lappets centring on a globular finial, the interior turquoise, the rims gilt, the nianhao written on a white ground within the base 13½ in. (34.3 cm.) high
