A RARE BEIJING ENAMEL 'RUBY LANDSCAPE' OCTAFOIL JAR QIANLONG BLUE ENAMEL FOUR-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN DOUBLE-SQUARES AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795) Of compressed globular form, decorated on the eight lobes with quatrefoil panels, each containing idyllic landscapes finely pencilled and stippled with ruby-red enamel, depicting fishermen on meandering rivers and rural dwellings with rocky mountains in the background, divided by floral scrolls on a bright yellow ground, set with a pair of animal-mask handles on shoulder and another pair of scroll handles attached to the gilt-metal lappet band encircling below the waisted neck enamelled with further lappets, repeated around the spreading foot, the interior with turquoise enamel 4 1/4 in. (10.8 cm.) high
