A PAIR OF HIGHLY IMPORTANT GEORGE III SILVER SOUP TUREENS AND COVERS FROM THE WILLIAMS-WYNN SERVICE DESIGNED BY ROBERT ADAM MAKER'S MARK OF JOHN CARTER LONDON, 1774 Each oval, on spreading fluted oval base with band of waterleaves, rising to a beaded stem, the lower body with calyx of waterleaves, the beaded rim with acanthus band below, with two applied ram's head handles and four oval beaded medallions with frolicking putti, the domed cover with guilloche laurel band, beading and calyx of waterleaves centering a bud finial, marked under bases and on cover flanges length over handles 15¾in. (40cm.), 295oz. 10dwt. (9205gr.) together with two stands, probably later , each oval, with ovolo and dart rim, the domed field with calyx of waterleaves and beaded bands, apparently unmarked 18½in.
