A fine early Victorian rosewood small bracket clock with trip repeat Ganthony, London, circa 1840 The five-pillar twin fusee gong-striking movement with pendulum holdfast and signed Ganthony, Cheapside, LONDON to the arched backplate, the 5 x 3.5 inch full-arch single-sheet silvered brass Roman numeral dial with repeat signature beneath 6 o'clock, the case with foliate carved arched top above canted angles to front door and leafy scroll carved apron incorporating feet, the rear with brass arched fishscale fret infilled door, 25cm high, on a later rosewood plinth stand. Richard Ganthony sernior is recorded in Britten, F.J. OLD CLOCKS AND WATCHES & THEIR MAKERS as working from 27 Cannon St. 1803-7, 49 Lombard St. 1807-25, then from 83 Cheapside 1825 onwards, his son Richard Pinfold joined the business at around that time, on his death the business was passed on to William Connell.
